Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) the number of houses built so far with respect to Housing for all by 2022 scheme and the details thereof; and

(b) the challenges faced by the Government in realizing this objective?

(a) & (b)  Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) [PMAY(U)] since 25.06.2015 for providing assistance to States/ Union Territories (UTs) for addressing the housing requirement in urban areas. States/UTs have undertaken demand survey under the scheme for assessing actual demand of housing. The validated demand reported by States/UTs so far is around 112 Lakh.

Based on the project proposals received so far from the States/UTs under the Scheme, a total 1,03,22,560 houses have been sanctioned; out of this, 60,50,991 are at various stages of construction and 32,07,573 are completed/delivered.

Further, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) since 01-04-2016 to achieve the objective of “Housing for All” in rural areas by 2022. As on 01.02.2020, total 139.02 lakh houses have been sanctioned; out of which, 93.90 lakh houses have been constructed so far under the scheme. The challenges being faced under the PMAY-Gin realizing the objective of Housing for All are as under:
