(a) No. There is no such data with the Ministry.
(b) Does not arise.
(c) Drugs not conforming to prescribed standards may not be effective and may be harmful, posing health risks.
(d) The Government is committed to ensuring that the quality, safety and efficacy of drugs are not compromised. With this in view, the Government has taken a series of measures including strengthening of legal provisions, workshops and training programmes for manufacturers and regulatory officials and measures such as risk based inspections.

- (a) whether India is one of the biggest fake and counterfeit drugs market in the world;
- (b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor indicating the fake drugs sold during the last three years and the current year;
- (c) the implications of the fake and counterfeit drugs on public health; and
- (d) the steps being taken by the Government to combat this issue?
