EXTENSION OF METRO LINES
NO. 4452 SHRI G.M. SIDDESHWARA
Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state
- (a) whether it is a fact that the Government has approved an extra 313 km. of metro lines involving nine cities across the country;
- (b) if so, the details thereof;
- (c) whether a total of 537 km. of metro tracks are under construction and if so, the details thereof;
- (d) whether the Government has increased the budgetary provisions for metro projects to speed up metro expansion; and

(a) & (b) The details of metro rail projects approved by Government of India, across the country are given in Annexure-I.
(c) The details of under construction metro rail projects, as available in the Ministry, are given in Annexure-II.
(d) & (e) The details of budgetary provisions (Budget Estimates) for the last five years for metro rail projects are as under:

^ The project was approved by Government of India as equal equity participation of GoI & Govt of Rajasthan. However, the Govt. Rajasthan has decided to implement Jaipur metro rail project as state initiative.
# As informed by M/o of Railways, out of 135 km, 16 km of metro rail corridor, know as East West Corridor is being implemented by Kolkata Metro rail Corporation, which is joint venture of M/o of Railways & M/o Housing & Urban Affairs with equity participation in the ratio of 76:24.
