School Syllabus proposed to be reduced to half – Shri Prakash Javadekar
The Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javadekar inaugurated ‘Kala Utsav (Festival of Arts)’ at colourful function at the National Bal Bhavan in New Delhi today.
In his inaugural address, Shri Prakash Javadekar said that teachers have the onerous responsibility of identifying and nurturing the talents in the students and encouraging them. Present day students are bogged down so much in studies right from eighth standard on wards that they have no time to spare for manifesting and nurturing their talents. He added that in order to provide enough time to students to develop their talents, the syllabus is proposed to be reduced by half the present syllabus.
Shri Prakash Javadekar said that 26 crores students in schools and another 4 crores in colleges are our assets and they are our future. He commended the dance and song programme at the inaugural function which displays the unity in diversity of our nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Hrushikesh Senapaty, the Director of National Council of Educational Research and Training said that this is the fourth edition of Kala Utsav. he said that the Kala Utsav National Competition is a unique initiative to show case the artistic talents of school students at the national level.

स्कूली पाठ्यक्रम घटाकर आधा करने का प्रस्तावः श्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर
केन्द्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री श्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने कहा है कि विद्यार्थियों की प्रतिभा पहचाने और प्रतिभा पोषण तथा प्रोत्साहन देने की जिम्मेदारी शिक्षकों की है। श्री जावड़ेकर आज नई दिल्ली में राष्ट्रीय बाल भवन में एक रंगारंग कार्यक्रम में ‘कला उत्सव’ का उद्घाटन कर रहे थे।
उन्होंने कहा कि आज के विद्यार्थी 8वीं कक्षा से आगे पढ़ाई की बोझ से इतना दबे हुए है कि उन्हें अपनी प्रतिभा को दिखाने का समय नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि विद्यार्थियों को प्रतिभा विकास करने के लिए पर्याप्त समय देने के उद्देश्य से स्कूली पाठ्यक्रम को घटाकर आधा करने का प्रस्ताव है।
श्री जावड़ेकर ने कहा कि हमारे स्कूलों के 26 करोड़ तथा कॉलेजों के 4 करोड़ विद्यार्थी हमारी संपत्ति और भविष्य हैं। उन्होंने कार्यक्रम में देश की अनेकता में एकता दिखाते हुए प्रस्तुत नृत्य और गायन कार्यक्रम की सराहना की।
इस अवसर पर राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा अनुसंधान तथा प्रशिक्षण परिषद के निदेशक प्रो. ऋषिकेश सेनापति ने कहा कि यह कला उत्सव का चौथा संस्करण है। यह राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर स्कूली बच्चों की कला प्रतिभा दिखाने की अनूठी राष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिता है।
गायन, वाद्य संगीत, नृत्य तथा पेंटिंग में राष्ट्रीय स्तर की प्रतियोगिताओं में कर्नाटक को छोड़कर सभी राज्यों तथा केन्द्र शासित प्रदेशों के 370 से अधिक बच्चे भाग ले रहे हैं। इसमें केन्द्रीय विद्यालय संगठन तथा नवोदय विद्यालय समिति की टीमें भी भाग ले रही हैं।
कला उत्सव राष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिता 2015 में स्कूली बच्चों की कला प्रतिभा के प्रोत्साहन के उद्देश्य से प्रारंभ की गई थी।
